The Family Readiness Group (FRG) is an officially command-sponsored organization of Family members, volunteers, and Soldiers belonging to a unit, that together provide an avenue of mutual support and assistance, and a network of communications among the Family members, the chain of command, and community resources.

Family Readiness Support Assistants (FRSAs) provide administrative and logistical support to commanders, rear detachment commanders, and volunteer FRG leaders.  The FRSA prepares and maintains FRG documents, as well as volunteer records, and gathers and disseminates information from Community Partners.  Taking the administrative burden off the volunteers allows FRG leaders to concentrate on performing outreach to soldiers and families in the command.  The FRSA provides a summery of soldier and family readiness data collected up the chain of command.
